Metabolic, Nutrition and Exercise Research (MiNER) Laboratory
Welcome to the Metabolic, Nutrition and Exercise Research (MiNER) Laboratory. Our laboratory focuses on translational research leading to a better understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms relevant to metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, and to improve our understanding of the effects of diet and exercise training on obesity and type 2 diabetes. Specifically, our lab studies the interactions between insulin signaling, intramyocellular lipid (IMCL), lipid droplet associated proteins, and mitochondrial bioenergetics in humans and in skeletal muscle and using human primary skeletal muscle cell culture models.
