Paul LaPrade
My experiences growing up between El Paso and Juárez provided me with a firsthand view of the creative interplay that occurs between different languages and spaces. Teaching in the FYC program gives me the privilege of working with a group of remarkable, transnational students who negotiate the complexities of language and identity on a daily basis.
I had the opportunity to learn how much I enjoy teaching first-year writing classes while exploring their connections with my coursework as a Masters student in UTEP’s Rhetoric and Writing Studies program. It is with great excitement that I look forward to continuing this process of discovery as a lecturer in the FYC program. In addition to first-year writing, I have had the fun, frenzied experience of teaching an online summer Workplace Writing class. My work in the program has focused on online curriculum development.
