SOP Faculty Spotlight - March 2024
Dr. Nicole D. Davis is a native of El Paso, Texas and a proud UTEP Miner. She was a University Honors Degree recipient and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology in 2013. She went on to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017. As a pharmacy student, she was honored with the El Paso Pharmacy Association Student/Resident of the Year Award in 2016 and received the UT Austin College of Pharmacy Dedicated Service Award in 2017. In 2018, Dr. Davis completed a residency at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas where she obtained experience in internal medicine and oncology.
Upon completing her training, Dr. Davis returned to El Paso and worked for Texas Health and Human Services, becoming a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2019. She then relocated to Washington state in 2020 and accepted a position as an oncology pharmacist with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. While in the Evergreen State, Dr. Davis developed interests in pharmacist-led oral oncolytic management, prevention of infusion-related reactions, and preceptorship. She also had the unique experience of assisting with the transition to a new cancer center. Dr. Davis became a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist in 2023.
Dr. Davis began her new role as a clinical instructor with the UTEP School of Pharmacy in September 2023. She is currently assisting with teaching the oncology modules for the Integrated Systems-Based Pharmacotherapy (ISBP) course and hazardous drug material for the intravenous admixture course. She will begin precepting Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) students in Summer 2024.
In her free time, Dr. Davis enjoys spending time outside with her husband and two young boys and volunteering with the Junior League of El Paso. She is a member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
