The purpose of the program is to foster research in the geosciences. Grants are made to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in master’s or Ph.D. programs whose thesis research has application to the search for and development of petroleum and energy-mineral resources, and/or to related environmental geology issues.

Llanos will use his funds to complete research and analyses related to his thesis “Genesis of Unique Carbonate Features in a Pre-Salt Reservoir Analogue Lower Cretaceous Yucca Formation, Indio Mountains, West Texas.” Grisi will use her funds to support research, fieldwork and data collection for her thesis “A Comparison of the Fisher Valley and Gypsum Valley Megaflaps, Paradox Basin, Utah/Colorado.”
