Welcome to Spring 2021, future Miner teachers!
This fall semester is like no other, with both challenges and new opportunities for growth and learning. As we start the semester during this unprecedented time, we in the College of Education are focused on the following:
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and their families, as well as faculty/staff;
- Maintaining the highest-quality instruction in our all coursework and preparation;
- Innovating with new technologies for teaching and learning in the 21st century.
The majority of our undergraduate courses, as you know, will be offered in online and virtual formats. We can assure you that faculty have been working hard to design high-quality online and virtual learning experiences. Undergraduate teacher preparation courses in the College of Education will be offered through these three different modes:
- Online/asynchronous – which means that you will not meet at a specific time, though you will have assignments and activities that will be due at certain times;
- Online/live – which means the class will meet virtually at the dates and times listed in Goldmine, per instructions from the professor;
- Hybrid – which means a combination of in-person and online class sessions. Please note: if you will be attending any in-person class sessions, please follow campus safety guidelines, which can be found on the Resuming Campus Operations webpage.
If you have questions about how your courses are offered, please check the course schedule in Goldmine and the course shell(s) in Blackboard, and please reach out to the instructor with any specific questions.
We encourage you to view your courses as opportunities to learn and refine new digital skills and practices – ones that you will likely employ as teachers in 21st-century classrooms.
We wish you a productive, engaging, learning-filled fall semester!
