How Adults Learn Best
A tremendous amount has been written on how adults learn and more is discovered each day. An interesting book to read is Daniel Willingham's (2009) Why don't students like school: A cognitive scientist answer questions about how the mind works and what it means for the classroom. He presents the research and the implication for teaching activities. There are also many websites covering the topics and here are just a few

- How people learn
- Cognitive and intellectual growth and development in college. William Perry developed a framework for intellectual and moral development of university students in the 1970's. Numerous websites provide synopsis of his theory and its applications in the classroom. The scheme provides an excellent foundation for understanding student behavior, how to keep them engaged, motivated and decreasing problems in class management.
