Remember, the genera with blunt abdomens can be separated into two groups by using the relative size of the wing scales. Orthopodomyia, Mansonia, and Coquillettidia have broad, pale and dark wing scales. Deinocerites, Culex, and Culiseta have all or most wing scales narrow.
