Theatre professor sees forest among the trees!
This Week in Liberal Arts History … 1985 … Leech Grove, named for former interim president and professor emeritus of drama and speech Milton Leech, is dedicated. Recognizing that the tiny corner of the campus at the intersection of University and Wiggins was one of the few tree-shaded plots on campus, Leech lobbied to preserve the locale as an oasis on the sun-drenched campus. It had been threatened by plans to erect a new building on the spot.
During the 2017-2018 academic year, UTEP celebrates the 50th anniversary of the College of Liberal Arts. Tune in each week to learn something new about the history of liberal arts and more during our yearlong celebration. See you next week!
