SITES OF TRANSLATION: A USER-EXPERIENCE RESEARCH CENTER
Sites of Translation User-Experience Research Center is a nonprofit, interdisciplinary, community and University-driven resource that supports student development and local community organizations in El Paso and beyond. Developed as a partnership among community organizations, academic researchers, and technology industry professionals, Sites of Translation User- Experience Research Center is envisioned as the place where social-justice oriented organizations come to request help in creating and disseminating their bi– or multilingual content (e.g., websites, web applications, informational tools) aiming to meet the needs and highlight the assets of linguistically diverse users.
Through the financial support of the College of Liberal Arts, the English Department, Provost, and Vice President for Research at UTEP, a two-day planning symposium for the center is planned to take place at UTEP on November 9-10, 2017. During this symposium, community organizations, translation practitioners, and user-experience researchers and students from across the country will come together to exchange ideas and make plans for the future of the center. We are currently seeking participation from students, researchers, practitioners, and community members interested in learning more about what a multilingual userexperience research center can do with and for organizations, Universities, and communities. You do not need to be at UTEP or have any experience with translation or user-experience to participate!
