Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT)
The Mental Health Awareness Training for Healthy US-MX Border Communities program is sponsored by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA Grant 1H795M081471-01) and aims to equip first responders and mental health care providers/professionals in the El Paso region with skills and resources related to promoting mental health. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) are offered.
Mental Health First Aid is an eight-hour, evidence-based curriculum teaching individuals how to help someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. MHFA training increases awareness of mental health, reduces stigma around mental illness, and teaches individuals how to assess a situation, provide assistance, and connect someone with a mental health issue to resources.
