UTEP Theater Student Earns National Recognition

Judges from the U.S. Institute for Theatre Technology named The University of Texas at El Paso’s Constanza Romero as its national winner in the Allied Crafts and Technology Design competition during its Conference and Stage Expo, March 20-23 in Louisville, Kentucky.

Romero, a junior theatre education major, presented her puppetry design from “Bless Me, Ultima.” She competed against other regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival winners in the category for make-up, costumes and puppetry.

Romero earned a full scholarship to an eight-week Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas experience valued at $12,000.

She said she would attend during summer 2020 as she already has agreed to a theater job in New York this summer.
