UTIMCO manages more than $60 billion in assets on behalf of 22 institutions, including UTEP, within the state of Texas. The seven UTEP scholars are part of a cohort of 50 students from throughout The University of Texas and Texas A&M Systems selected to take part in the vigorous summer program designed to enhance scholars’ professional skills and develop a clear understanding of the investment management industry.

“It is a tremendous opportunity for our students to participate in the UTIMCO Scholars Program.  The experience of working with investment professionals will be invaluable in their personal and professional growth” said James Payne, Ph.D., dean of the College of Business Administration.

UTIMCO scholars participate in weekly interactive virtual sessions that include topics related to their personal and professional development as well as provide participants with insight and advice to advance their future investment management careers. UTIMCO will recruit interns for its own internship program from the pool of scholars as well as share their resumes with external investment partners for internship opportunities in summer 2022.

Through the UTIMCO Scholars Program, the all-female group of talented UTEP scholars will receive the training necessary to be successful in the investment management and related fields, helping to diversify these areas with greater female and Hispanic representation.
