$1.7 Million Gift from Hector and Gloria López Foundation to Benefit 15 López Scholars
In early July, the Hector and Gloria López Foundation announced a $1.7 million gift to benefit a group of UTEP students who will be known as López Scholars. The grant will provide support for tuition and fees to 15 Hispanic, first-generation college students. It will also offer mentoring, tutoring, paid internships, leadership development and more, for up to five years.
This is the López Foundation’s first-ever grant. The goal of the program is to enable students to focus on their studies and not be distracted by common barriers.
