Employees Raise Over $98K for Charities

The School of Pharmacy earned UTEP’s traveling trophy as the unit with the highest level of participation in the 2021 State Employee Charitable Campaign, which supports health and human services organizations in the Paso del Norte Region and beyond. In total, UTEP employees raised more than $98,000 through the campaign.

UTEP Study Paints Positive Outlook for Area Economy

The Border Region Modeling Project, led by Economics Professor Tom Fullerton, Ph.D., forecasts more jobs, population growth and record-setting volumes of cargo traffic at international bridges in the next year. Despite challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the regional economy will bounce back as long as the pandemic does not worsen and interest rate hikes caused by rising inflation are not excessive, the group’s latest report says.

TFCU Announces Grant for Banking Academy

A $20,000 grant from TFCU will support the College of Business Administration’s Banking Academy and its mission to prepare graduates – especially Hispanics – for successful managerial careers in the financial services industry. The Banking Academy was established in 2021 to address the shortage of banking professionals in West Texas and Southern New Mexico.

The Wedding Singer – The Musical

Jan. 28 – Feb. 13    UTEP Dinner Theatre, Union Building West

Based on the hit Adam Sandler movie, “The Wedding Singer,” this stage musical takes place in 1985 and features rockstar wannabe Robbie Hart as New Jersey’s favorite wedding singer.

Bad Bunny

8 p.m. Feb. 11    Don Haskins Center

Grammy winner and multi-platinum recording artist Bad Bunny will make his return to El Paso as part of his North American tour, “El Último Tour del Mundo 2022.”

UTEP Launches New Homepage

The new homepage at www.utep.edu features a simplified navigation interface. The hamburger menu (three stacked bars) on the top right links to the key menu pages for current students, faculty and staff, and includes a search bar to find all other content.

Pre-Register for COVID Tests at UTEP

UTEP students and employees can get a free COVID-19 test from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday in the former Honors House, 2090 Hawthorne St. (behind the Academic Advising Center). Pre-register with location code UTEPS to expedite the process.
