A new book titled “Seeing Us in Them: Social Divisions and the Politics of Group Empathy" co-authored by Cigdem V. Sirin, Ph.D., and José D. Villalobos, Ph.D., of the Department of Political Science has earned the American Political Science Association Best Book Award.

El Paso Matters highlighted Diabetes Garage, a diabetes clinic run by Jeannie Concha, Ph.D., assistant professor of public health sciences. This program aims to teach men how to manage their diabetes by likening it to how they maintain their car.

Local Media Interview Geological Science Professor Velasco about Earthquake

Aaron Velasco, Ph.D., discussed seismic activity that was felt in the area last week. Velasco believes water injections into the ground may have caused the earthquake and a 5.0 magnitude earthquake that occurred in the same area in March 2020.

The Miner Ambassador application for the 2022-23 academic year is open through Nov. 30. In this program, students gain valuable professional experience – along with the opportunity to network with UTEP alumni, staff, and faculty.
