UTEP Expands Paydirt Promise Free Tuition to Families Making Up to $80K

Veterans Invited to Pancake Breakfast, Resource Fair

The Paydirt Promise Program is expanding to make higher education affordable to more students. The program, which previously covered undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees for Texas students with a family income of $75,000 or less, will now include students with an adjusted gross family income of up to $80,000.‎

Replay Commencement Ceremonies

More than 2,700 students celebrated UTEP’s Fall Commencement on Dec. 16 and 17. Replay the livestreams from each ceremony.

Winter Break Starts Next Week

UTEP will be on winter break Monday, Dec. 25 to Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023 and Jan. 1, 2024. The University will be open with a skeleton staff on Dec. 27-28, and all staff will operate remotely on Friday, Dec. 29. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, Jan. 2. The University will be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 15, and spring classes and Picks of the Week recommence on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024.

Alumna Named Houston Chronicle's First Latina Managing Editor

Alejandra Matos, who graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Journalism from UTEP in 2012, is making history as the first Latina editor to join the Houston Chronicle's masthead. In her new role, she will lead content and audience strategy for the largest paper in Texas.

Students: Sign Up for Direct Deposit by Jan. 5

It’s one of the most prestigious honors for UTEP graduating students. Presented annually, this award highlights future UTEP alumni who have gone above and beyond in their academic achievements. Deadline is Jan. 12, 2024.

December Basketball Camps Open to Area K-6 Students

Kids can meet players and coaches while picking up new skills on Dec. 22-23 in the Don Haskins Center. The camp for students in grades K-3 runs 10 a.m.-noon, while grades 4-6 meet from 1-3 p.m. Each camper will receive one free ticket to the Dec. 30 UTEP men’s basketball game vs. Seattle.
