College of Nursing Newsletter
Thank you for reading the College of Nursing newsletter!
We have enjoyed a productive fall semester welcoming new and returning undergraduate and graduate students in all our programs – BSN, RN-to-BSN, MSN Nurse Practitioner, MSN Nursing Administration and Management, MSN Nursing Education and DNP – back to campus.
We had a strong start to the semester at our pinning ceremony, the largest in the nearly 50-year history of our bachelor’s program. For those who may not know, UTEP is the largest producer of health care profession-focused graduates in the region; we are shaping the future of health care by training highly skilled and compassionate nurses.
Homecoming
We hope you join us for UTEP Homecoming events, including honoring our Gold Nugget, Alfredo Arellano. The El Paso native works in private practice as a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist. The clinic’s tagline is “Helping Minds and Healing Hearts,” demonstrating how Arellano has taken the mission of our college and has applied it to a long and successful career.
He also makes a difference in the lives of our current students as a clinical instructor, mentor for undergraduate UTEP students and preceptor for graduate students. We congratulate and thank you for your service, Alfredo!
Legislative Ambassador
Congratulations to second-year DNP student Gaby Hildenbrand, APRN, FNP, who has been selected to serve on the Texas Nurse Practitioners Legislative Ambassador district team for Rep. Joe Moody and Sen. César Blanco. She has been selected to serve in this role due to her demonstrated leadership, clinical expertise, and passion for health care policy and advocacy.
Thank you for reading updates from our college; I encourage you to follow us on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter).
Go, Miners!
