History

The Peer Leader Program started in 1999, when Dr. Dorothy Ward was assigned to a task force that would create an interdisciplinary course to help address the needs of the entering student. All of the courses focused on critical thinking, cooperative learning, peer leadership, access to resources and skills that students would need to be successful in college and beyond. According to the article, it was a team effort that included a peer leader, a librarian and presenters from different campus departments.
