Financial Aid and Scholarships
Students within the Doctorate of Pharmacy program at UTEP are eligible for financial aid in the form of unsubsidized loans which can be applied for via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) website.
Students who have not completed an undergraduate degree and have a scholarship/grant with remaining funds may be able to use them towards their PharmD tuition and fees. Please contact the UTEP financial aid office at studentfinancialaid@utep.edu or at (915) 747-5204 to learn more about your specific scholarship and its requirements.

Some of the available opportunities include:
- Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship
- $2,000 for 1 year or $5,000 for two years
- The National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program is the only national scholarship program targeted at Hispanic students who are committed to careers in health care and enrolled full-time in dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, public health, and policy schools.
- American Pharmacist Association Foundation Scholarship
- $1,000-$1,500
- The APhA Foundation Student Scholarship Program recognizes students who choose to invest their time in their school’s APhA - ASP chapter to help shape the future of the profession while managing the demands of a full-time pharmacy curriculum. Applicants will be evaluated on their potential to become leaders for the profession of pharmacy, as demonstrated by involvement in school and community activities and academic performance.
- American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Student Leadership Award
- $2,000
- This program recognizes and celebrates the contributions of students who represent the very best attributes and accomplishments of ASHP student members. ASHP offers up to twelve awards annually. Pharmacy students in the second through fourth professional years are eligible to apply.
- Presidential Scholarship
- $2,000
- All pharmacy students who are NCPA student members are eligible to apply for ONE of the NCPA Foundation Scholarships per academic year. The student must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. school or college of pharmacy on a full-time basis during the term that the scholarship is awarded.
- Partners in Pharmacy
- $2,000
- All pharmacy students who are student members of NCPA are eligible to apply for the Partners in Pharmacy Scholarship per academic year. The student must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. school or college of pharmacy on a full-time basis during the academic term that the scholarship is awarded
- Wiillard B. Simmons Memorial Scholarship
- $2,000
- All pharmacy students who are NCPA student members are eligible to apply for ONE of the NCPA Foundation Scholarships per academic year. The student must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. school or college of pharmacy on a full-time basis during the academic term that the scholarship is awarded.
- Tylenol Future Care Scholarship Award
- 10 - $10,000 scholarships will be awarded annually and are not renewable. ·30 - $5,000 scholarships will be awarded annually and are not renewable.
- Who is eligible to apply?
- Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Be a resident of the 50 United States, Puerto Rico or the District of Columbia
- If the applicant is an undergraduate student: must have completed at least one year of undergraduate course study by the Spring of 2017 at an accredited two or four-year college, university or vocational – technical school. You must provide proof of enrollment to a health education, medical school, public health, nursing, and/or pharmacy degree program.
- If the applicant is a graduate student: must provide proof of enrollment to a graduate program in health education, medical school, public health, nursing, and/or pharmacy degree program.
- Must have one or more years of school remaining · Scholarships will be awarded to students and practitioners who are seeking a degree to actively treat patients. · Employees of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division, ISTS, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and the families of each are not eligible.
