The Center for Metrics Based Planning (cMBP)

The cMBP's primary purpose is to study and improve how metrics and analytics are used within a planning framework to improve organizational outcomes at UTEP and other institutions.

UTEP has dramatically improved key outcomes over the last 30 years, and planning has had an important role in advancing the institution’s mission. The integration of big data and analytics (BDA) increased the efficiency and effectiveness of planning at UTEP. This slow integration of BDA into the planning framework emerged overtime through a thoughtful application of knowledge to address emergent issues that confronted the institution.

cMBP’s primary approach to improving the MBP Framework is to analyze the use of BDA at UTEP and other contexts, especially at other higher education institutions that have dramatically improved key outcomes over the last decade.

cMBP will develop conceptual papers and case studies that describe Metrics Based Planning and its use at UTEP and other institutions. cMBP will also develop tools and aids to support the effective use of metrics to advance organizational outcomes.
