This program equips students with cutting-edge skills in artificial intelligence (AI), including machine learning, deep learning and data-driven decision-making. Graduates possess an understanding of both the technical and ethical dimensions of AI. Our focus is on creating AI technologies that serve the public good while minimizing risks and biases, ensuring they align with societal values and human rights.

At its core, AI is rooted in Computer Science, where researchers focus on designing algorithms and models that enable machines to learn, reason, and make decisions. This foundational work is essential for developing robust AI systems capable of addressing complex challenges across industries. Additionally, computer scientists play a critical role in establishing ethical frameworks, safety protocols, and transparency standards that ensure AI solutions are developed and deployed responsibly.
The BSAI program aims to ensure that our graduates are well-equipped to shape the future of transformative technologies while advancing UTEP’s commitment to social mobility.
B.S. in Artificial Intelligence graduates are equipped to work in a wide variety of industries, including technology and software development, autonomous systems, biotechnology, finance and fintech, e-commerce, and government.
