Eligibility

 

Works of art and design completed between the beginning of Spring Semester 2020 and the end of Spring Semester 2021 by current undergraduate majors or minors from the UTEP Department of Art. Students whose work was completed in a UTEP art course (Art Ed, Graphic Design or Studio) during this academic year are encouraged to apply. Awards will be at the sole discretion of the jurors.

Please note that this year we will accept  up to 5 entries per student each of two categories – Fine Arts and Graphic Design. A maximum of 5 entries per student per category, a maximum of 10 entries total. We have waived all entry fees for this year’s exhibition.

 


How to Enter

 

All entries will take place online now through midnight Sunday, April 18th

All students (both Fine Arts and Graphic Design)  should fill out one online entry form for each work entered in the exhibition.  Follow this link to submit your work

Entry forms must be received before midnight Mountain Time on Sunday, April 18th.  Any forms received after that time will not be included for jurying.


Artwork Delivery and Display

 

GRAPHIC DESIGN WORK
Now through midnight (MT) Sunday,  April 18th, 2021
Online submmission only
 
Prior to submitting an entry graphic design students should obtain instructions and style guide from their Graphic Design professors. It will be essential to follow this style guide for all entries.
 
Graphic Design Students will submit each entry in a single PDF via email to UTEP2021StudentShow@gmail.com with the words “GRAPHIC DESIGN ENTRY” in the subject line.  Maximum PDF size of 50 MB. One entry per email. Maximum of 5 Graphic Design entries .
 
All graphic design work  must be received digitally no later than midnight (MT) Sunday, April 18th, 2021.
 
FINE ARTS WORK
Wednesday, April 21st from 10am-5pm
Thursday, April 22nd from 8am- noon
In person submission only – Fox Fine Arts Breezeway
Next to Esfera Cuántica Tlahtolli (aka the big orange ball)
 
The Rubin Center staff will have a table set up in the breezeway of Fox Fine Arts in front of the large orange sculpture during the above days and times. Students who have submitted online entries should stop by to pick up lables for artwork entered in the exhibition and be directed as to the placement of their artwork for jurying. All entry labels must be picked up and artwork readied for display no later than noon on Thursday, April 22nd.


Announcement of Selected Work

 

The Rubin Center will post a list of selected works no later than noon on Monday, April 26 in the following places

  • on the Rubin Center Facebook Page
  • in person on the front doors of the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts
  • in person on the bulletin board to the left of the Art Department Office Fox 350
  • emailed to all studio faculty

Delivery of Selected Work

 

Graphic Design – the PDF’s you create for your submission will serve as the virtual artwork to be displayed online and projected in the gallery.

Fine Arts - If your work is selected for the exhibition, you will be required to deliver it to the Rubin Center during the following days and times:

  • Monday, April 26th 1-5pm
  • Tuesday, April 27th, 10-5pm
  • Wednesday, April 28th, 10-5pm

If you cannot deliver your work during these times, or if you have any other issue related to delivery or display please contact Rubin Center Exhibitions Coordinator Jose Krapp no later than 5pm on Wednesday, April 29th.  You can reach him by email at jekrapp@utep.edu or by phone at 917-664-3846.


Opening Reception

 

Between Monday, May 10th and Friday, May 14th the Rubin Center will hold multiple small receptions to allow students, faculty, family and friends to see the artwork in a socially distanced setting.  Details will follow.
