Meghan Pohlod

Meghan Pohlod is a print artist based in Reno, Nevada, and the Bay Area. She is the current Fellowship Award Artist at Black Rock Press, and an Instructor of Record at the University of Reno. Prior to this award she was the lead Printmaking Faculty at Laney Community College in Oakland, California. From 2018-2022 she was the Artist Residency Manager at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California. She received her MFA in printmaking from the University of Alberta in 2017.  Her printmaking practice stems from an interest in the concepts of recollection and resolution, and questions what happens to the body, both internally and externally, when distressing memories are triggered. This visual research offers a unique and personal lens from which to view theories of memory and contemporary discourses of trauma, family, what is remembered and how it is manifested. Pohlod has exhibited work and been a visiting artist nationally and internationally.

Meghan Pohlod es una artista gráfica establecida en Reno, Nevada, y en la Bay Area. Es la actual artista becada de Black Rock Press e instructora de Registro en la University of Reno. Antes de este premio, fue la titular de la facultad de Grabado en el Laney Community College en Oakland, California. De 2018 a 2022 fue la gerente de Residencias de Artistas en el Kala Art Institute en Berkeley, California. Recibió su máster en Grabado de la University of Alberta en 2017. Su práctica del grabado surge de un interés por los conceptos de rememoración y resolución, y cuestiona lo que le sucede al cuerpo, tanto interna como externamente, cuando se desatan recuerdos angustiantes. Esta investigación visual ofrece una perspectiva única y personal desde la cual abordar las teorías de la memoria y los discursos contemporáneos sobre el trauma, la familia, lo que se recuerda y cómo se manifiesta.
