Nabil Gonzalez

Nabil Gonzalez holds a double BFA degree in Printmaking and Graphic Design from the University of Texas at El Paso and an MFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design. As a studio artist, Gonzalez’s works have been focused on social and political views affecting the borderland area of the United States and Mexico. In her work Gonzalez explores the erasure and reestablishing of identity through the repetition and layering of images, marks, and materials. Through her work Gonzalez tries to shake and bring awareness to a society that has become numb and unresponsive to the brutal acts of violence towards minority groups. But most importantly she wants to be a voice for the countless murdered, disappeared victims of social and political injustice. Gonzalez works have been shown throughout the United State, Mexico, Colombia, and China. Her artist books and prints are included in museum collections and library special collections in the United States.

Nabil Gonzalez posee una doble licenciatura en Grabado y Diseño Gráfico por la University of Texas at El Paso y un máster en Grabado por la Rhode Island School of Design. Como artista de estudio, las obras de Gonzalez se han enfocado en los aspectos sociales y políticos que afectan a la zona fronteriza de Estados Unidos y México. En su obra, Gonzalez explora el borrado y restablecimiento de la identidad a través de la repetición y superposición de imágenes, marcas y materiales. A través de su obra, Gonzalez intenta sacudir y concientizar a una sociedad que se ha vuelto insensible e indiferente a los brutales actos de violencia contra los grupos minoritarios. Pero lo más importante es que quiere dar voz a las innumerables víctimas de la injusticia social y política, asesinadas y desaparecidas. Las obras de Gonzalez se han expuesto en Estados Unidos, México, Colombia y China. Sus libro arte y grabados forman parte de colecciones de museos y bibliotecas de Estados Unidos.
