CHEMISTRY AND COMPUTER SCIENCE BUILDING "TOP OUT" CEREMONY
The construction of UTEP’s new Chemistry and Computer Science Building reached a milestone on May 21. Hundreds of people joined UTEP President Diana Natalicio at the job site to watch as the building’s final beam was hoisted to the top of the infrastructure during the University's "Topping Out" celebration.

GRANT AWARD
Dr. Gardea-Torresdey was awarded a grant (UTEP Principal Investigator) from the National Science Foundation/Environmental Protection Agency (Center for the Environmental Impact of Nanotechnology) Grant of $38,000,000 for the funding period of 10/01/08 to 09/01/13. Other Institutions awarded were: UC Santa Barbara, UC Davis, UC Riverside, Columbia University, the Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, the University of Bremen in Germany, University College Dublin in Ireland, and the Universitat Rovirai Virgili in Spain.
