UTEP College of Education's Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling Program Earns CACREP Accreditation
El Paso, Texas - March 19, 2024
The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) College of Education proudly announces that its Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program, housed in the Department of Counseling, Special Education, and Educational Psychology, has been awarded accreditation by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
The decision was made by the CACREP Board of Directors following a thorough review of the program's adherence to the highest educational standards. The accreditation, effective immediately, reinforces UTEP College of Education's commitment to providing high-quality education in the field of counseling.
The accreditation is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of the faculty, staff, and students, who have demonstrated firm commitment to excellence in counseling education. It reaffirms the program’s dedication to preparing professionals equipped to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with diverse needs.
Dr. Clifton Tanabe, Dean of UTEP College of Education, expressed gratitude to the department’s leadership and faculty for their diligent efforts throughout the accreditation process. "Their commitment to excellence in higher education and their tireless efforts in preparing competent and compassionate professionals in the field of rehabilitation counseling are truly commendable," said Dr. Tanabe.
The success of the accreditation process was made possible by the dedication and expertise of the faculty members involved. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Chuling Lo, Assistant Professor of Instruction, and the entire department for their invaluable contributions.
The accreditation cycle for the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program aligns with that of the accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialty area at UTEP College of Education, extending through March 31, 2027.
We celebrate this achievement as a significant milestone in the journey toward excellence in counseling education and look forward to the continued success and growth of the program.
