Baja SAE Season 2024-2025
This 2025 season SAE will be partaking in this season competition, facing over 100 colleges.
The University of Texas at El Paso's Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) team recently participated in the Baja SAE Oregon competition in Gorman, California, from April 25-28, 2024. Despite a setback during the final inspection, the team of 16 mechanical engineering students showcased their resilience and dedication. The UTEP SAE team was not able to proceed but they, represented the College of Engineering, prepared Mad Pete Motorsports, their all-terrain vehicle, with guidance from faculty advisors and industry mentors. The competition provides real-world experience for engineering students and simulates professional engineering environments.
Although they couldn't proceed to testing, the team's dedication and teamwork were evident in their performance. Team captain Victor Unzueta expressed pride in their achievements and thanked sponsors, advisors, and the university for their support. The UTEP SAE team's journey highlighted their engineering skills and their ability to handle challenges with professionalism and determination, showcasing the quality of engineering education at UTEP and the College of Engineering's commitment to preparing students for the industry.
