Chapter 7: Student Financial Aid Code of Conduct
7.1 Policy and Purpose
It is the policy of The University of Texas at El Paso to commit to and adopt a Student Financial Aid Code of Conduct and standards concerning student financial aid services and lending practices in connection with such student financial aid services.
The purpose of this policy is to exhibit educational leadership and demonstrate a commitment to a student loan program that bests serves the needs of students and parents and enables future generations to achieve the numerous benefits afforded by higher education.
This policy is adopted pursuant to the requirements in the federal Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (P.L. 89-329), as further amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act (P.L. 110-315). This also implements Texas Education Code, Sec. 51.9645, relating to prohibiting certain activities by financial aid employees.
7.2 Adoption of Code of Conduct
The University of Texas at El Paso hereby accepts, adopts and implements, the Code of Conduct and Statement of Ethical Principles maintained by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA). 7.3 Training
On an annual basis, every employee within the Student Financial Services unit, which includes both the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Office of Scholarships at The University of Texas at El Paso, and other identified officers and employees as determined by the President, shall receive training concerning the Student Financial Aid Code of Conduct. The annual training module will be administered by the Office of Institutional Compliance.
