Trainings offered through the LAHDR Center are developed based on the evidence that supports the implementation standards necessary to impact client outcomes as demonstrated through research. Our trainers have received the highest quality of training in Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Brief Motivational Interventions (BMI) by highly renowned trainers and are committed to serving our community by providing trainings in MI and BMI.
Our Training Director, Patricia Juarez, has been a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) since 2001 and was mentored and supervised by the co-creator of MI, Dr. William Miller. Patricia is one of two MINT trainers living in Mexico. Our Training Coordinator, Reyna Puentes, became a member of the MINT in 2018 and is one of three MINT trainers living in El Paso, Texas.
Our trainers are among the small group of MINT members who are equipped to provide training in Spanish. Together, Patricia and Reyna have over 22 years of experience in developing and providing training, coaching, and supervision to community providers who address various aspects of health behavior change among their patient populations.
