Minor Requirements

Courses required for the minor are designed to give students a basic grounding in both the study and practice of museum work. The two base courses, ART 3308 and 3309 form the introduction and the capstone to the minor. The first acquaints students with the field as a whole, and the second challenges them to utilize their studies and skills to create a museum exhibit. The internship requirement allows students to learn skills within an actual museum setting and contributes specific professional accomplishments to their resume.

ART 3339 Special Studies: Internship 3 credits (note: the History Department is currently proposing to create a cross-listed internship which will also count)

Museum Studies Minors should take ART 3308 before taking ART 3309, 3310, 3311, or 3339. ART 3309 functions as the capstone to the minor.
