UTEP Symphony Orchestra
The UTEP Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Bohuslav Rattay, is open to all qualified musicians, regardless of departmental major. Membership in the UTEP Symphony offers valuable training in both orchestral routine and musical styles, and provides vital performing experience. Music majors with string instrument emphasis are required to be members of the Orchestra. Wind and Percussion membership must be approved by the appropriate applied faculty member. Full orchestra rehearsals are held MWF at 1:30 PM in Recital Hall. String players must also register for String Orchestra Literature, which meets TR at 1:30PM. The standard orchestral literature is performed by the UTEP Symphony Orchestra, including works by Beethoven, Brahms, Ravel and Respighi. A concerto competition is open to advanced students.
