Mission Statement
Mission Statement
The String Project at UTEP serves the borderland community surrounding the UT El Paso campus by offering music instruction to young children. The primary goal of the String Project is to provide stringed instrument instruction to children in grades K-7, regardless of socio-economic standing. Its secondary goal is to provide enrolled UT El Paso students the opportunity to teach music to young children in a “real-life” learning and teaching environment. The symbiotic relationship between UT El Paso and the String Project is enormously enriching and rewarding for all involved. It encourages learning in two tiers: elementary school to college aged learning; student to teacher. The String Project at UTEP will indelibly heighten the profile of UT El Paso by offering a critical program to the surrounding borderland community and enhancing the overarching UT El Paso Mission to bridge boundaries and encourage access for all.
String Project Director: Dr. Stephanie Meyers / String Area Coordinator and Professor of Violin, Viola, and Chamber Music at UT El Paso
