The primary function of the EAC is to review the progress of the RCMI program at UTEP on an annual basis and provide direction and areas for development. It constructively evaluates progress made with respect to funding, publications, scientific and faculty development, and areas for growth. They reinforce activities that will result in a “measurable emphasis” on making discoveries of clinical and translational significance.
The current Chair of the EAC is Dr. Susan Opava, Professor Emeritus California Poly University. Her analysis, and that of the committee, continues to provide strong impetus for us to streamline our operations of biomedical research and assists with innovative ideas and strategies to maximize the BBRC activities
The EAC also includes external advisors for each of the Cores and research projects. They operate following best practices, provide high-quality services, operate at comparable levels to other similar facilities and make relevant progress toward sustainability.
