Degree Requirements

MAT Science students choose a content emphasis area in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Earth Science or Physics.
The degree program has three tracks:
- An in-service track for existing teachers who wish to strengthen in content and gain the mentoring skills;
- An in-service track that requires an additional 12 hours of Science Education courses will prepare them for eventual certification as a Master Science Teacher;
- A pre-service track for students with undergraduate degrees in science or engineering who seek a masters and teacher certification. This track requires an additional 15 credit hours and an internship placement at an area school.

(Requires concurrent enrollment in Alternative Teacher Certification)
Students in the pre-service track complete an internship at an area middle or high school as part of the Alternative Teacher Certification Program. A program fee is assessed as part of the internship process.
In-Service Track (36 hours)
