We maintain a commitment to excellent service by focusing on delivering and supporting the effective integration of technology into the academic and administrative functions of our institution. We make all efforts to keep our technology services efficient and accessible to help support teaching and learning and the overall goals and mission of the university.

Areas of Support

 


Technology Support Help Desk

We are the central point of contact for students, faculty, and staff to receive support for all campus technology-related needs. Our skilled staff is prepared to provide support through various methods of contact to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner. We offer extended hours of operation and continually receive customer satisfaction feedback that exceeds business industry standards.


We provide UTEP account access •
We configure UTEP Wi-Fi and other UTEP mobile apps •
We support and troubleshoot UTEP application software •
24/7 Blackboard Support •

 


 

 

 

 

 

Blackboard Central

We provide administration and second level support for all UTEP’s teaching and learning systems in aims of helping faculty and students achieve successful course delivery and completion. We are responsible for all Blackboard and other instructional technologies. We pride ourselves on customer support and maintaining fully operational systems.


• Manage Blackboard user accounts, course shells, and course enrollments
• Support and facilitate training on Blackboard, YuJa, Zoom, Respondus, Gradescope, and iClicker
• Coordinate updates/upgrades and integrate instructional tools with Blackboard
• Our faculty lab is located in Library Room 300 or virtually through Zoom

 

 

 

 

 

Desktop Support

We are an extension of the services provided by the Technology Support Help Desk. Our staff is comprised of Dell and Apple Certified technicians who maintain the functionality of end user workstation equipment in support of business continuity throughout the UTEP campus.


Connect with customers on-site or remotely to assist with IT-related issues •
Install and upgrade operating systems and other computer software •
Provide consultation for requirements of software or hardware upgrades and purchases •
Install and maintain hardware and computer peripherals •

 

 

 

 

 

 

Desktop Management

We are focused on unified endpoint management. The following services are all maintained and managed by this group:


• Maintenance of computers in Technology Support labs (see below)
• Windows and Apple computer management enterprise tools
• Volume licensing of specialized software
• Student Printing solution
• Application and desktop virtualization (Citrix XenApp and Microsoft App-V)
• Computer Clinic service that provides free tech support for student owned personal computers


 

 

 

 

 

Tech Center

This area oversees our Technology Support Center operations below:


Equipment Checkout services available to all student to checkout equipment such as laptops and hotspots •
New laptop acquisition and distribution to new faculty •
University campus Operator services •
Campus-wide survey tool administration •
