Technology Support

Technology Support is UTEP’s main point of contact for all your technology needs. They provide help with the set-up of your UTEP account, Blackboard, WiFi, and much more. They are dedicated to providing quick and effective tech support and continuously strive to enhance technology services and support for the campus. They are located in room 300 of the UTEP Library, or you can visit to contact them.

Long-Term Laptop Checkouts

This spring semester, over thirteen hundred UTEP students are using one of these laptops to help them with all their learning activities. The laptops come with Microsoft Office, Respondus Lockdown Browser, VPN, and students can install any additional software they need to complete their academic work. All currently enrolled UTEP students are eligible for this program. Visit the Equipment Checkout web page for more information.

Connected Classrooms

A Connected Classroom allows UTEP instructors in the classrooms to stream their lectures and engage students who are either attending in person or through the web. Connected Classrooms are equipped with high-definition PTZ cameras and microphones. For Connected Classroom Tech Workshops, reach out to Technology Support Learning Environments.

TX-RAMP Certification

Recent legislation passed by the Texas Legislature may have an impact on departments that intend on entering or renewing a contract that has a cloud computing service component. TX-RAMP is a new certification process from the State of Texas Department of Information Resources to ensure that all cloud vendors the University contracts with, meet the minimum security guidelines for the data we store and the software we use. All cloud vendors must be TX-RAMP certified to be purchased for University use. For more information on TX-RAMP please contact the UTEP Purchasing Office.

Blackboard Ultra Training

This January, Technology Support hosted its bi-annual series of live training sessions. These were focused on the new Blackboard Ultra and other teaching tools. Participants were given the choice of attending either in person or online. Transitioning to Blackboard Ultra was covered in-depth, as well as training on other Teaching Tools that are available to UTEP faculty. If you were not able to attend, Self-paced Training is now available on the UTEP Blackboard web page. You can also find more information on UTEP Teaching Tools Dashboard linked below.
